Where can I find out more about online exams?

The IIA has introduced online exams that allow the Certified Internal Auditor® (CIA®), Certification in Risk Management Assurance®️ (CRMA®️), Internal Audit Practitioner and CIA Challenge exams to be taken remotely. This flexible examination option will be available for a limited time only. More information is available here.

How do I sign up for an exam?

You can sign up via the Certification Candidate Management System (CCMS) here.

What are the educational requirements for admission to the exam?

You will need to provide proof of your qualification(s) to be admitted to the CIA programme. Your educational qualifications will determine how much experience you need to complete the programme.

I failed the exam. When’s the earliest I can retake it?

As of 1 July 2022, the earliest you can retake an exam is 30 days from the date of your last examination. You will need to re-register and pay the required fee.

What should I do if I need more time to complete the certification programme?

Candidates can extend their programme by 12 months once via the link ‘Extend my programme’ in the CCMS (see the CCMS handbook, p. 7).

How do I reactivate my certification?

Candidates whose certification has expired need to report their CPE hours from the last 12 months and pay a reinstatement fee of USD 100 (for members) or USD 250 (for non-members). Candidates who are within the ‘grace period’ also need to report their CPE hours from the last year and pay a fee.

I have a CCMS account, but I’ve forgotten my password.

Try resetting your password. You will receive a message from the IIA. If you do not receive a message, please email customerrelations@theiia.org
