IIA Switzerland regularly carries out surveys of auditing managers in collaboration with German and Austrian institutes. The study has served as a valuable guide to the current and future trajectory of auditing for auditing managers and company stakeholders for decades. After a three-year break, IIA Switzerland, the German Institute of Internal Auditors (DIIR) and IIA Austria conducted a new survey in early 2020.

The results of the 2020 survey by IIA Switzerland and its German-speaking partner institutes show that more and more organisations are applying the domestic and international internal auditing Standards. It also reveals more potential for internal auditing in the areas of quality management, data analysis and continuous auditing.
